  SILAS RAEGA    —  owner - he/she/theyOriginally wary due to Silas's brash personality and role as a dragoon, Uni has grown closer to her based on Silas's more relaxed persona when in private. They secretly admire his powerful nature, seeing them as a valuable protector who is always present and won't disappear from their friends. Uni is pleased by the gaps in Silas's memory, seeing this as a way to avoid divulging deeper topics about each other as they grow closer. Uni is envious of Silas's charm and often grows jealous when seeing Silas interact with potential suitors.

  ELYSIA URABE    —  owner - she/herElysia, being a very upbeat and adventurous person, made Uni originally feel inclined to avoid her at all cost. Elysia is also quite affection and trouble-making, being insistent on touching Uni and grabbing their tail to their displeasure. Elysia is the most likely person close to Uni to be hissed at or bitten. However, Uni values Elysia as a companion, and admires Elysia's persistence to be a hero despite her history of loss and tragedy.

  SYLVARA ESHYASSA    — owner - she/herUni opened up more and wouldn't distance themself around Sylvara first, appreciating Sylvara's more sisterly nature yet intense power in battle. She can be grumpy and blunt, which Uni is not incredibly bothered by, but they tend to avoid her when she's in that mood. However, Uni looks down on her consumerist nature and doesn't like the way Sylvara eyes their tail. Sylvara's history is the most unknown to Uni, and despite not being one to pry, they are quite curious of Sylvara's mysterious origins.

However, they know something is lingering underneath the surface, as Adelaide seems very withdrawn and almost stuck inside his own mind. Uni enjoys the quiet, but tends to stay at a comfortable distance, both being exceedingly wary of him as a Viera and not wanting to be nearby when whatever is hiding underneath eventually rises from him.

  MARINARA GAUTIER    —  owner - she/herUni does not know much about Mari, but tends to stand on the sidelines when she is around. This is due to Mari being a very excitable and loud individual, leading to occasions of frequent touching and using touch as a form of affection and appreciation, something that bothers Uni extensively.

  QUETZ CERRO    —  owner - he/himUni does not know much about Quetz, as he is a very stand-offish person with a bitter attitude. Uni is also wary of him due to being a Viera. They are almost too similar for Uni to feel comfortable with, as the relation they have personality-wise invokes negative emotions within them. They find Quetz to be most admirable in battle, where his sour nature can be utilized best. Uni does envy those who can banter with Quetz, seeing a side to him that Uni is not privy to.

Origin and Personality

Uni originates from the time shortly after the Miqo’te’s split into different Clans following the Miqo’te migration to Eorzea during the Fifth Umbral Era. Their original name has been lost to time, with Uni being a replacement given to them, yet their surname remains.They were kin of the first founders of the Clan, yet oftentimes would feel othered due to their place in the matriarchal society—something that would only worsen with age, due to their inability to speak and general interest in darker magical arts. They have entirely forgotten their mother with time, additionally Uni has never known their father, due to male Miqo’te not raising their young or staying with the tribes in the Keepers of the Moon Clan.They would eventually be recruited into Althyk’s Chosen following their meeting with Ulyriah.Uni is a melancholic yet spiteful individual who chooses to watch from the sidelines and take out their hidden emotions on enemies. Their closed off nature stems from complicated feelings of belonging in their Clan, which would continue during their time with Althyk’s Chosen. Additionally, they are extremely distrusting of everyone around them, having once put their entire trust with Ulyriah, which was subsequently destroyed.

Uni was originally very vulnerable and susceptible to the whims of those around them, being prone to persuasion and accepting of any request asked of them. In current times, Uni is irritable and easily provoked, hissing often at any inconvenience (this being their only form of speaking) and not entirely against biting those that irritate them. They are particularly touch repulsed, preferring to linger on the sidelines of those around them as they observe silently. They often express their emotions through writing, sending letters to those they are closest to and keeping a journal on them at all times for ease of conversation.They tend to crack under pressure, leading to them completely shutting down during times of distress. In these moments, they will hide away somewhere that will ensure they will not be found, ignoring all protests by their companions. They will lose themselves during this time, disassociating completely as a result of past trauma. Many of their fears involve losing the ones they love, preferring to push them away instead of risking their wellbeing.Originally very wary of their free company, Uni has begun slowly relaxing into their position within it, easing into their bonds with the other members.Uni prefers clothing that covers their head and most of their face, as it provides them a barrier from those around them. Though, this begins to change after joining the Scions and growing closer to the members, feeling as if they can show their face around them.

PRE-ALTHYK'S CHOSEN

During Uni’s journey into observing the dark arts and experimenting with its magic, they ran into a Viera woman-- an encounter which would soon end their studies. The Viera woman, Ulyriah Qoet, was peculiar to Uni in the way it seemed she was from a different era, with clothing completely abstract from what Uni had grown accustomed to in their tribe. Ulyriah took interest in Uni, conversing often during Uni’s time away from their tribe to study black magic, exchanging a journal back and forth to explain each other’s life stories. Uni, having been othered by their tribe, was intrigued by the mystery of Ulyriah and eagerly accepted any proposition from her. They bonded over their similar backgrounds, as Ulyriah was exiled from her Rava tribe following her betrayal of the Green Word and desire to interact with the outside world..Ulyriah was often absent for weeks at a time, disappearing and never seeming to have a home of her own, residing around the forest Uni’s tribe protected. Despite the tribe never happening upon her, whenever Uni needed her, Ulyriah was there. This back-and-forth relationship continued for an entire year before Ulyriah requested Uni to meet her again, but this time, she gave Uni an ultimatum regarding the outcome of their life. Ulyriah, assuring Uni of their genuine friendship, admitted she was originally sent to scout out individuals for their organization, with Uni having garnered the personal interest of the creator. She was there to ascertain Uni’s skill, and with Uni continually delving deeper into dark magic, the creator of the organization wished to recruit them before they crossed too far over the line.

The organization, Ulyriah explained, was the origin of her bizarre clothing unfitting for the era and her lack of a home or location of her original tribe. Ulyriah was not of this time, as she was a member of Althyk’s Chosen.

REAPERS OF TIME

Althyk's Chosen was explained to Uni to be an elite force of Reapers chosen specifically by Althyk, the god of space and time, to ensure balance and avoiding paradoxes in the timeline. This is by reaping lingering spirits that still remain unrightfully on Hydaelyn, reaping those that interfere with the timeline and time travel, and ensuring those destined for death to be reaped.Althyk personally scours the timeline to find worthy individuals to undertake the task as a Reaper-- typically those estranged from people around them, lacking close relationships that would interfere with their task, while also having a strong spirit that ensures their task in the gruesome act of reaping.Ulyriah gave the option for Uni to join, which Uni was eager to accept, as it gave them the opportunity to remain close to Ulyriah and not face her disappearing for months on end. Additionally, becoming a Reaper would give Uni purpose and connections to others like themself, someone who was previously othered and alone, now having a specially chosen group to bond with.

Becoming a member of Althyk's chosen began with a five year period of training, in which Uni was directly trained under Ulyriah, to their delight. You observe and assist your mentor until being approved to begin reaping soles at their discretion, always under supervision. After those five years, growing closer and bonding with their fellow Reapers, Uni was granted the full position, which meant putting a stasis on their aging, and allowing them to traverse the timeline alone by the powers ingrained in their Scythe.Uni had to leave behind their studies and research of the dark arts, but willingly delved into the same with the act of reaping and origin of Reapers. Additionally, many of the tasks given to them were able to be performed with Ulyriah, to whom they continued to grow affectionate towards and depended on.Time moves differently for those in Althyk's chosen and begins to blur as Reapers transcend across time. It no longer begins to affect those in the group, with many years passing by in the overall timeline without having an impact on their feelings of age and longevity. Uni spent hundreds of years in the group by the time they learned of Ulyriah's true nature.

ULYRIAH'S PLOT AND UNI'S DOWNFALL

Over the years, Uni and Ulyriah's relationship had grown to the point of an indescribable bond between the two. Yet, Uni depended heavily on Ulyriah, feeling disdain whenever she was assigned on a mission separate from Uni, leading to Ulyriah using her charm to convince those in a higher rank to continue pairing them together. They ate their meals together, ventured the world and time together, and even slept in the same bed with one another. Ulyriah had said that Uni was hers, and though Uni was not yet aware all that would entail, they took it in stride and felt intense pride at being claimed.Having fully gained the trust of the previous recluse, Ulyriah began to show more of her true personality around Uni. She was possessive and didn't enjoy Uni getting closer to the other members, expecting Uni to maintain a considerate distance between other team members in favor of Ulyriah. Uni didn't mind this at the time, feeling that Ulyriah was their closest friend and companion, someone who saved them from being a loner in a Clan seeking to abandon them.This came to a head when Ulyriah unveiled a project she had undertaken and had been involved with for many years. This project was a sub-unit of Althyk's Chosen, created in secret due to the request of the Garlean Empire in a distant future. The leaders of the Garleans treated this group as a way to assassinate those in the timeline that were destined to interfere with their plans, and with the Reapers being chosen and trusted by the god of time himself, this ensured that they would not be caught. They offered power, control, and numerous forbidden methods of magic and war that would be appealing to those looking to live double lives amongst the timeline, something forbidden to the Reapers due to their immortality and power over time.

Ulyriah had demanded Uni join her on this, as it would ensure another skilled member to flawlessly pull off assassinations and reaping. Uni was in shock and terrified by this proposition as opposing Althyk would ensure a fate worse than death, but Ulyriah was everything to them, and with the fear of losing her spurred her to accept. Ulyriah would take Uni to her room that night, carving a deep cut into Uni's cheek, branding them as hers and signaling to the other sub-unit the same sentiment. This would further traumatize Uni, yet the co-dependency grew stronger.The many years participating in the sub-unit hardened Uni, dulling their previously curious and naive personality. Uni was forced to witness the gruesome horrors of assassinations, seeing sub-unit members fight over power, and the constant fear of being discovered for interfering with the timeline. They grew more withdrawn, with Ulyriah constantly reminding them that they were hers, made to do her bidding so that their relationship would remain.Eventually the strain grew to be too much, Uni was exhausted from the endless stress, and when their sub-unit was dangerously close to being discovered once the Garlean Empire's plans reached their peak in the present era, Uni sought to escape. She left Althyk's Chosen unannounced, forgoing their stasis with a ritual discovered by their research of Time Reapers, ending up in the modern era, stripped of their power and scythe.Uni began aging once more, picking back up their almost forgotten admiration for the dark arts, returning to their role as a black mage. Members do not leave Althyk's Chosen, so Uni is forced to constantly be on the run, avoiding both the god of time and Ulyriah who is doubtlessly hunting them down, looking to end Uni who knows too much about Althyk's betrayers. They joined the Scions of the Seventh Dawn, seeing this as a way to hide within a group of powerful, protective, and heroic people, ensuring their safety.
